As sponsors of Oxford Brookes Racing's Formula Student Team, we wanted to supply them with kit that lends itself to precise, detailed processes in an ergonomic work environment.

Oxford Brookes Racing is one of Europe’s most elite Formula Student Teams. Formed in 1999, they have collected 7 UK top team awards- more than any other university. Their aim is to support and develop graduates to fulfil their potential and power the future of motorsport.
In recent years, Oxford Brookes Racing have made the transition from combustion entries, to open-wheeled electric racing for a more sustainable future. The students design and build every aspect of the race car including the chassis, suspension and powertrain.

As well as the engineering side of things, OBR have an off-track team that take care of media, marketing and sponsorship to equip students with a wide breadth of knowledge and experience.
OBR encourage young engineers to excel in a high performance team, through nurturing and developing skills and knowledge including:

As sponsors of OBR, we wanted to send the team a selection of kit that would boost productivity and efficiency in their workshop. OBR put together a small list of workplace storage products that they thought would enhance their race bays and create an ergonomic workspace.

“Here at Oxford Brookes Racing, we are always looking at new ways to improve both on and off track. This year, with the support of our great sponsor bott, OBR was able to completely change the way in which our race bay is organised and the way in which we carry out work.

"The first product bott provided was a new bott cubio mobile storage bench. With this product we are able to both store things inside the heavy duty storage bench and wheel it around to carry out tasks on its worktop. The tool storage bench also improves organisation and efficiency. The drawers, shelves, and other storage compartments can be used to organise equipment and materials, making it faster and easier to access what is needed for a task and saving time on searching for different components and assemblies. This has been crucial throughout our recent car build phase with planning and building of the powertrain and electrical sub-assemblies.

Our storage has also been levelled up with additional security; locking cubio cabinets give team give team members using their own tools an added element of reassurance to leave them in the race bay.
The next product we were provided with was our mobile adjustable table and rear frame to accompany it. Using these products together helps minimise the injury risk as the sharp tools and dangerous tasks are done in designated areas that everyone is aware of, whilst also having the area well lit. Being well lit also assists with completing some of our trickier tasks like carrying out soldering on our new PCB’s, which is a high precision task.

The ergonomic work set up of everything provided by bott is brilliant, we can modify the height of the table and workbench so anyone can work on it, enhancing productivity and increasing the work quality. Having these new products also provides a new look and feel in our race bay, and creates an environment that everyone wants to look after as we are extremely appreciative of the sponsorship provided by bott!”
