A long-standing bott customer, the company recently completed a long-term, multi-million-pound extension project at their facility in Sherburn-in-Elmet, Yorkshire; doubling the size of their UK headquarters and creating a manufacturing centre of excellence for many of its key products.
As a result of the overall building expansion, EJOT UK required a workshop fit-out for its extended Applitec Centre; a state-of-the-art workspace used for product research, design and testing. Having worked with bott back in 2010 on their original workshop, Simon Pearson - Operations Manager at EJOT UK, had no hesitation in choosing bott once again. Given that many of their plastic components are made in Yorkshire, the company thought it fitting that the newly expanded area be kitted out with the best of British quality.
As part of our project service, we paid a visit to the impressive new facility, to understand more about the requirements for the workspace. By working closely with EJOT’s team and taking into account other essential components shown on the floorplans, we were able to work on developing an efficient, functional, smart solution, based entirely around their needs.
Simon Pearson commented, “As with our existing bott system, we knew that we would receive the same professional, high-quality standard for the new, larger workspace. The project process allowed us to discuss our requirements in full detail and for the workshop layout to evolve. Communication was very clear between bott and ourselves which made everything run much smoother and enabled us to achieve our design quicker than expected.”
The workplace storage equipment chosen for the new Applitec Centre, included a selection of drawer cabinets, cupboards and workbenches from our heavy-duty cubio range, offering a vast expanse of functional worktops, mixed with high-capacity storage options. The robust and secure storage cupboards are used to store heavier, more demanding equipment, ensuring maximum user safety throughout the working environment. To flexibly extend the working area when needed, mobile storage benches add extra capacity for larger processes.
With the amount of space afforded by the bott system, EJOT UK have been able to expand and sustain their organised work practices for keeping tools and equipment in an orderly fashion. Lino worktops not only add a great contrast to the room, but are easy to clean when testing and development is in progress. The cabinets, cupboards and benches are finished in a durable powder-coat colour, to compliment the brand’s identity.
Simon commented, “We wanted to ensure that the new Applitec workspace fell in line with the aesthetic of the new building expansion. With EJOT's colours being white and red, we wanted this to reflect in the room - this was very easy to accomplish with the choice of colours available from bott. The overall design of the system and the worktops, helps us to maintain a very clean working environment, whilst also allowing us to conduct our harsh, destructive testing.”
At a time scheduled to fit around them, EJOT UK chose a professional, bott installation. “Both the customer service and installation service were excellent, from the quick replies during the design stages and information regarding installation dates, to the team who installed the equipment. We were kept up to date during every step of the process, ensuring that we met our deadline.”
